· This was the first season of regionalized scheduling for basketball in Montana and the Chiefs’ new schedule found them playing three of the better Class B teams in the state. Plains was #5 in the AP Poll when they defeated Ronan in Ronan, and earlier in the season the Chiefs had upset #10 Bigfork in Ronan. Plains would advance to state tournament play along with Corvallis, another Ronan regular season foe.
· Senior Mark Cordier would set the single game high scoring mark for Ronan with 26 points at Whitefish.
· In Ronan’s one-point loss to Libby during the regular season, the Loggers sank 30 of 39 free throws and were led by Jeff Peck’s 30 points.
· The Chiefs’ loss to Libby in divisional tournament action saw Ronan go scoreless for the first 12 minutes of the second half and then score 18 points in the final four minutes of play. Cordier led the Chief charge with five three-point field goals.
· Ronan eliminated Hamilton from the divisional tournament in Saturday morning action ending Bronc coach Dale Berry’s 20 year coaching career.
